Coast to Coast Challenge

The Coast to Coast Challenge is a walk across the shortest width of Britain from East to West in 48 hours. The total distance comes in at 82 miles from South Shields in the east to Gretna Green in the west along the Hadriens Wall path.

Joe Clarke, Rhys Bowen, Thom Watts, Chris Rusz, Elise Bromley, Addison Baigent and Sophie Bromley decided to undertake this challenge during the Queens Jubilee weekend (3rd-4th June 2012) partly because it would require no extra days off work but also because they will be lighting 60 beacons along Hadriens Wall to mark the Queen’s Jubilee and therefore making the walk a bit more exciting than it otherwise would have been.

The aim is to start at 5.30am each morning and finish up around 9pm with a total walking time of around 12 and a half hours a day and a break here or there to re-energise. The route will look like this:
